The Olive-Egger thread!

They may be duds. Can you see any veining on them? Yeah I've probably downloaded everything on here as well lmao.. :p
Internal pipping is when the chick or whatever your hatching breaks through the inner membrane but hasn't made an outer hole. Once it has internally pipped they usually will externally pip within 24 hours for chicks. Longer for ducks and geese.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense! But another question - how do you see that internal pip via candling?

@chicken Juggler
I ordered a light that if the room is rather dark I see the green and brown
I did have to help my one chick that peeped from the wrong end it kept peeping but couldn't get out
waited but no luck so finally helped a tad with a warm wet towel and it is drying now in the heat of incubator
then tomorrow I will move all three

Breeding f1 x f1

So, seeing your chart and playing with the numbers to obtain pure blue dark carrier I came to the following proportions, including 1/16 for the pure blue dark carrier. Someone tell me if I am wrong in the proportions. (I used the term White Tan. I know it should be “No Tan” for white eggs, but just for better illustrating, I used the word White. Oh, and please correct the names I gave to the colors resulting from the gen combinations.

Supposing I used:
Marans (BSM) = SwSw + TmTm
Ameraucana (Am) = SbSb + TwTw

Whereas:
S = Shell (Sb=Blue Shell; Sw=White Shell)
T = Tan (Tm=Brown Tan; Tw= White Tan [or No Tan])

Marans x Ameraucana

100% SwSb + TmTw

Light Green Olive Egger (f1)

If I cross f1xf1 I should have
(SwSbTwTm x SwSbTwTm)

That is a good chart and took some time to produce. It also shows how hard it is to get a pure olive egger that breeds true. They can carry recessives that show through. That was a simple one that shows 4 genes, blue or white and brown. However brown isn't a simple single gene, there are at least 12 that combine to do it. It turns the numbers astronomical. You also won't generate pure marans or ameracaunas from this pairing. I've noticed that that they loose leg featherin even to f4s. They also keep pea combs to f3 most of the time, with a few straight popping up.

I am doomed man !!! Yes I only played with 4 genes.

Absolutely right you will never get back the pure BCM or Ameraucana, there are so many other gen combinations of so many other factors.
