Day 2 of the current incubator batch

Waiting and waiting and waiting.... I decided to get crazy and hatch a pullet egg from my single oliver. It's too pretty not too.

Out of 6 pullets from my last hatch, one lays olive, one (a BCM x BR) lays tan, and the 4 others haven't started laying yet. I don't think they got the message about springing forward. We've also decided to build a hatcher so we have room for more hatching baskets. Not sure if we'll manage it for the current batch, and it will be tight keeping the eggs/chicks separate at lockdown.

Ok, yeah. I pretty much knew it almost two weeks ago, actually. I was just afraid that my "fear" of her being a he was taking over. Now he has started trying to crow. Yep. 5 weeks old. (The crowing is very obviously a roo-sound) The comb was very pink even though it was small. GRR. Oh well. Better luck next time!

Im obsessively wanting an olive egger. I only have 1 rooster and its a Croad Langshan. Ive read the hens lay dark brown eggs. If i hatch an EEs blue eggs with him would that produce Olive?? And then if I got a girl could i hatch her eggs for an even darker Olive? I see most that Ive read people are using an EE roo...I HAVE TO HAVE AN OLIVE EGGER!! Its the last color for my egg basket!
