The Olive-Egger thread!

I'd love to get some opinions on my 9 week OE, "farrah fawcett". The wattles developed early so I thought roo but the comb hasnt grown much. And no dark red patches on the wings.

I hope its a girl so she can keep her name!

The color of it's face/comb make me want to say boy (don't hate me!!

) BUT! It's plumage color is that of a pullet...

So, cross your fingers- you just might have a lovely little lady!

I have a couple of chicks that are a New Hampshire X Wheaten cross. Will this give an olive colored egg? Is the New Hampshire egg color not dark enough to produce olive? If not what color would it produce

I believe I have that cross. I purchased her as a chick from someone who was hatching Wheatens, but did not want this chick because it was some kind of cross. She looks like a NH. Her egg started as olive and has slowly faded to green, but it is pretty.
You can see the hen and her first two eggs on post 4890 of this thread.

Does anyone know what white does to Lavender? I was thinking about hatching pure lavender Ameraucanas and putting them under my white Marans Roo. What would this give me color wise? I know white is recessive. So would the other colors which made my white pull through on the chicks? Or would the Lav win out assuming they are true Lav and not a back split?

My EEs are laying very light green eggs. I have a BCM roo that im thinking doesnt have the super dark chocolate gene..more medium brown. Is this combo going to work? I am planning on getting pure Ameraucana later... Should I wait to hatch??
