The Olive-Egger thread!

I will add on to this just a bit... I have F-2s that are the product of my F-1s bred back to Marans for a darker egg color, not just F-1 x F-1. It's still a step away from the first generation, just in a slightly different direction.

Some of my Olive eggers 17 weeks old. No eggs yet and no crowing yet.....
I think this one is a Pullet - and yes she was trying to sun bathe in 92F weather.

When I checked their wings for sexing, This is what they are from left to right.

Hatch Day! 8 so far. I am not sure what to call them. I have a roo that is from a splash maran x light green egg laying hen "EE" I put that roo which is now an OE over light green egg laying EE's. I only set the mint green and spotted eggs. So I am sure I will get some shade of green eggs from the babies that are hatching today. I'm hoping for a med olive color hoping for spots! Ignore the tan ones they are from the kids pet SLcochin and the very dark ones are from the 2 {FS}BCM

I'm hoping for more like the light to med green with spots.

Love the spots!

I have a welsummer that makes nice spots, so I might try her with an am roo this fall,
I got 2 welsummer pullets 6 weeks old. I'm going to breed them next spring with my OE roo. I can't wait to see their offsprings eggs. I'm mad about colors. I keep a small basket on my counter. I leave about 6 out for up to 3 days before I change them out. You can't bake with cold eggs anyway!
