I have 2 new crosses. Both Ameraucana x with BR so then the pea comb hen will be the green egger and the straight comb will lay brown? Interesting.

Oh how Awesome! I can't wait to see what this will give you. I am so tempted to buy some marans and ameraucan to start my own little project. Sad to say, but my son did end up taking ownership of his EE's. lol He's 13 and dh and I discussed this will be a nice little project for him. He has really bonded with them too, so I will leave it alone. To hear my son's business plans makes me wish I grew up in a farm when I was 13. He's really studying and learning all he can. He now "needs" a maran to try to get the darker olive color. We have decided to buy it for him, but make him pay me back. Weird, but I believe it will be an interesting homeschooling business lesson for him. Teach him about loans and running his own business while teaching math, science, reading, etc.... I am praying he is successful with it. He really loves his chickens and there is nothing like making what you love work for you.

Anyways, I'm looking into purchasing a couple of Maran hens and an Amerecauna rooster (or vice versa)! Anyone in Central PA who is selling????? Do you maybe know of anyone??? I am willing to travel to near by areas if needed. The places I have called are all out. I think there is a mass project going on.

That brings me to ask, has ANYONE here made an Olive Egger from a true Araucana? - And more precisely, one who lays a good, true blue egg? Because I know I'm going to be doing that. ( Wynette's Marans x tufted Araucana ) I'm choosing Wynette's stock over any other Marans I have because they lay the reddest eggs of all of mine, and my Araucanas will lay the bluest eggs of all my green/blue layers. I'd love to see what the offspring look like, and how gorgeous their eggs will be!

I'm hoping for a well tufted, possibly rumpless, feather legged, splashy colored Olive Egger!

- I'm thinking either I take my splash cuckoo Araucana (honestly, it looks like a Lavender Cuckoo ) or one of my blues - Perhaps the blue with tufts so big there is no mistaking its breed.

Illia,I was gonna try with the true Araucanas. I hatched out some Marans about a month ago but sadly, my rumpless Araucana roo Franklin died about 2 weeks ago. I'm so bummed.

Does anyone have pictures of the eggs from their Olives (brown + blue mixes, not EEs) to either blue or another brown? I've skimmed this thread a couple times but haven't seen any pictures of next gen eggs other than Wynette's Golden Olives.

I've got some chicks growing out from a BCM roo x Olive hen (Penedesenca roo x Ameraucana hen) that are MONTHS away from laying any eggs. I'm impatient to say the least. Hoping for a darker olive color.

I'll be hatching out some nice blue layers this month, so when they start laying, they are going to get crossed to the olives as well.

I can't wait to see how these chicks turn out. They are only a week or so old but they all have pea combs and all but one has the muffs big enough to see. They're cute as buttons, I hope I did goo picking out the pullets. They had much smaller and more narrow pea combs than the one's I "thought" might be little cockerels.

And, yes. I am collecting eggs now from my Maran hens that have been with my true Araucana roosters from blue egg laying stock so I'll be setting eggs soon and having chicks hatching in about a month. Both roosters are very nice, rumpless and one has bilateral tufts and he's the one with the hens now. They will be sex linked

my hens laying now are cuckoo maran and the Araucana roosters are not barred. I plan to get more maran hens that are laying, would anyone be interested in day old chicks if I hatch out a bunch? I would be able to sex them to sell pullets and the little cockerels would be nearly free.

I have never shipped but have had chickens and eggs shipped to me so I know I could manage it. Give me a little time to get a few more adult cuckoo maran hens (I just have 3) so I can produce enough to sell.
