Wheaten babies are blonde?! Who knew? I've been crossing my BCMs with my EEs to get OEs, all my babies are blue. I would love a little variety.
I had a raccoon attack early summer, lost all my OEs except one that was broody. I pulled every OE egg out of my fridge (some a week old) and popped them under my broody. 6 hatched, all blue. Now let's think PINK!

It is a thin shelled blue egg with brown coating, so the shell looks green?I'm trying to understand egg shell color. I read that all eggs are blue or white, and that the green or brown colors are "paint" put on by the hen. I've seen this with my own hens. The inside of the egg is usually pale blue or white.
I cracked open these olive eggs the other day, and was surprised that one is olive all the way through.
The one on the left is olive inside and out. The other one is olive outside and pale blue inside. Why is this? I appreciate any information!
