Thank You both. I was very happy with the color they are. I was nervous with it being an F1 cross that the eggs would be light green or brown. But they turned out very nice. I have her in with a BCM rooster so the chicks hatched will be F2s. I cant wait to hatch some out and see what they lay.How gorgeous. So dark.
hey have any of you had difficulties getting fertile eggs out of your OE pullets? I have 2 roosters and 3 hen free range. I have seen the roos breeding them but the eggs are not developing the blastodisk. They seem to have quite fluffy butts could this be interfering and how much should you trim to increase the contact?
Toss a couple into the incubator and see if they develop. It is not always clear if the egg if fertile by eye balling it. The scientific way is to use a microscope to measure the size.
The Rooster needs light to be as fertile as possible. You You may need a different color light or more light per day if you are giving them supplemental light.
