EEs are aracauna based, so the pea combs will help predict the blue egg shell gene. There is an association between pea combs and blue egg shells with EEs.
Thank you very much!

Question: I asked it before, but did not receive an answer, I bought chicks that were dark brown layers, crossed with Easter Eggers, as "Olive Layers". One of those chicks has turned out to be a Rooster. If he fertilizes eggs, will his breeding have an impact on the eggs his offspring will lay?
Thank you very much. What you are saying makes sense! If he has a pea comb, he prob carries a blue egg gene..otherwise, no. Mixing a mixed breed EE to yet another breed means you have a wild card unlikely to be worth keeping - just another brown egg gene rooster w/o the pea comb...even with it, only half his offspring will inherit the blue egg gene and half of those will be cockerals. The pullets you have aren't likely to lay green eggs if they didn't inherit a pea comb, too. If you want colored eggs for certain, invest in an ameraucana or legbar rooster.
Really hoping so! Parents are cuckoo marans hen with splash Ameraucana roo.For it's size it has very little comb development and no redness in the face. Very likely it is a girl. In a couple of weeks I think you can be 100% confident in it.
What breeds were the parents?

I believe that cross should be sexlink meaning all barred chicks from that cross will be male.Really hoping so! Parents are cuckoo marans hen with splash Ameraucana roo.
