Mmmm, good point. Hadn't thought of that. The five olive eggs should hatch black and the two EE eggs could hatch a diff color. Hopefully, I'll see them hatch . It would be hard for me to separate the bator since it is only a mini and almost too small for 7 chicks. If I can, I'll band the two EE chicks. Your baskets sound like a good idea if you have enough room. My eggs should hatch around Feb 25.

This works well for us in our cabinet GQF. It was used for emu eggs and these baskets fit perfectly into the hatching trays. I'd make them taller if you are hatching upright in cartons so the chicks have enough room to "pop the top" off after zipping. This photo shows my first attempt using gutter screen "hoop tops." It worked all right, but now I just put the screened lid on top of the hardware cloth basket and that works better. If I were going to make these myself, I'd partition them into quarters so there was room all around the cartons for chicks to have more room. We use the berry baskets to make mini-compartments within the long 1/3 tray divisions.

I have 2 male Isbars (1 blue and 1 splash). Im planning on putting either of those 2 over cuckoo Marans pullets.
Have any of you guys ever crossed these? I know it will make an OE but what will the offspring look like? Aside from the single comb.

Well, they will be sex-linked, which will be awesome! Because your girls are barred, your males will hatch with the white spots on the head and the pullets will not have them. This will work great with the blue roo, but I've heard others say that the splash roos don't produce good sex links. Hard to tell who is who. So, barred males and probably bluish females. Not quite positive how all of the females would turn out. Personally I'm about to do the same thing (almost) Cuckoo Marans hens and Blue or Blue Wheaten AM.

You could get blue cuckoos or black cuckoo looking cockerels with this cross, and blue or black pullets. I wouldn't use the splash if you want to clearly see the headspots.

blue cuckoo would look awesome imho. Thanks for the info guys. I will definately use the blue for olive eggers. I will put the splash over ccl's for ice cream bars. Thanks
