The Olive-Egger thread!

Those are some super cute pullets, Jax. I have my first potential splash chicks in the incubator now. Hoping for some gorgeous chicks in the near future!

I just wanted to share some of my olive egger pullets. They are just coming into lay. They have Marans mothers and a rumpless Araucana father. The pullets came out 90% rumpless while their male counterparts are 90% tailed, very interesting. The males are also have a lot more gold, they are calico colored.

I know this thread is all about the eggs, but I can't help pointing out that you have some REALLY beautiful birds there!!!

What specific coloring did the parents have?

The parents. Blue and Splash Marans. Top pic is one of the Mamas. The father isn't a traditional color, he is golden, but he is still pure Araucana. Included is an example of the eggs they are starting to lay. I sold a clutch of babies to a friend, and the egg came from the bird i sold her..i am still waiting for the rest to lay. I think I have about 16 of them.

I have a girly i hatched out of a MPC egg. I dont remember what eggs i got (OE or easter egger) he has a similar color to a black copper marans hen, and lays a pretty green egg. i havent seen easter eggers like her before. is there any chance that she could be an OE?

cute girl, nice egg. as neither EE nor OE are breed you cannot know what she is. the egg does have a brownish shade but still means nothing. cross her with marans and you will get OE for sure.
