The Olive-Egger thread!

Here's the egg I got the other day that I think may be from my Isbar x marans pullet. They are due to start laying any day now. None of my other laying hens lay this shape of egg. It's a lot shorter and fatter. It seems a little large for a first egg though so I'm not sure. It's 61g. Could this be a first egg? A little disappointed it's not olive. I hope the other two don't lay brown. :(

ps. I got confirmation that her Isbars were from GFF's first imports too. She has done Marans roo x Isbar hen crosses before and always got olive eggs. For some reason on the ones I got from her they were Isbar roo x Marans hen. At least she has multiple Isbar roos and I know they don't all have the same dad because I ended up with one black and two blues. So will have to wait and see I guess.

I have never heard that the first egg can be 61 g, my chickens lay 1 funny shaped egg from time to time. especially if they catch a virus.

they are just big, my chick hatched out of one of these eggs, I was worried it wouldn't hatch because it is just so big. first one of this hen's eggs to hatch.

Easter egger cross with golden cuckoo marans roo, one month old today. The marans are really easy to sex at a young age and seemed to bring that to these crosses too.

So I'm hoping for some golden cuckoo olive eggers!

I'm pretty sure this one came from my olive egger pullet. It was only 45 grams. Well I have 2 more so hopefully at least one will actually lay an olive egg.
