Here's the egg I got the other day that I think may be from my Isbar x marans pullet. They are due to start laying any day now. None of my other laying hens lay this shape of egg. It's a lot shorter and fatter. It seems a little large for a first egg though so I'm not sure. It's 61g. Could this be a first egg? A little disappointed it's not olive. I hope the other two don't lay brown.
ps. I got confirmation that her Isbars were from GFF's first imports too. She has done Marans roo x Isbar hen crosses before and always got olive eggs. For some reason on the ones I got from her they were Isbar roo x Marans hen. At least she has multiple Isbar roos and I know they don't all have the same dad because I ended up with one black and two blues. So will have to wait and see I guess.

I have never heard that the first egg can be 61 g, my chickens lay 1 funny shaped egg from time to time. especially if they catch a virus.
