The Olive-Egger thread!

The dry and the wet...

What I find interesting, is they say "gray" is only the bloom... then
why is dark brown on a marans egg not the bloom because I can wash it and the dark washes away, but nobody expects people with maran eggs to do that. I don't wash my eggs before setting them and I only wash an egg before eating it. I enjoy the color as is.

today my bcm pullet escaped to another run where I have a rumpless araucana cockerel. I don't know if they mated. in case they did would I be able to distinguish pure bcm chicks?

this is a cockerel:

Yes, by a lot of things.

I hope you get green eggs from the pullets that hatch!

Oh my they are the cutest things. What is the cross?

From what I can remember, she had a BCM roo over her EEs. She also had an EE roo over brown layers (not sure of the exact color of brown, so these may not end up as olive as we love). Excited to see what kind of eggs we end up with and see if we get any bonafide OLIVE eggers in the batch! We have lots and lots of blues with some blacks and a few yellows and that one chipmunk who is ABSOLUTELY the prettiest little thing!

Edited to add: I think true Ameraucana was also mentioned in the flock. Not 100% sure.
