So it is impossible that the bcm fathered the brown chicks?

The BCM breeder I bought from occasionally gets off colored birds. I asked the chick wrangler about them and he said it just happens.

(...I'm pretty sure I need to have a t-shirt made up for my nephew that says Chick Wrangler.)

Yes this roo gave me an occasional off colored chick Which is why he is my olive egger roo now.

Alright folks another question. I have some 2nd generation olive eggers that I hatched out of one of my bcm roos and 2 buff colored OEs...problem is I Hatched them out with a few of my pure bred bcms. I have a couple that I am going back and forth on what they are. My OEs are bearded so my question is will all of the OE chicks be bearded and will they all have feathered legs from the bcm roo? A couple of the black chicks have me stumped. And are they most likely to be buff colored? That seems to be the case. Thanks.

I have a beautiful BCM looking hen that has a beautiful olive egg she lays. (she is clean faced too feathered legged) If they get mixed up it is hard to tell. the F1s are easier to tell than F2s

Are you sure he is BCM. Does he have any wing triangle of red. Cannot see with that pictuce. Maybe he is a wheaten

no wing triangle...just way too much color which is why he is in the olive egger pen.

Also I raised him from 2 weeks on.

What type of roo is better to breed with EE'rs for an olive egg laying chick? A dark egg breed (BCM, CM, Welly) or a Welly/EE'r cross?

I liked the color eggs I got from my BCM and Blue egg laying EE, but all the chicks were black and I wanted different variety so I just switched to Wheaten, and the chicks are hatching right now.

My Wheaten OE's all have feathered legs, I was shocked, Will try to get some pictures, I took them from the incubator and slipped under a hen that had been setting for over a month. She is doing a great job

Here's Sonic, just over twelve weeks old hatched from a beautiful olive green egg. His egg was laid by a silkie Ameraucana cross hen covered by a Japanese Bantam rooster.
