The Olive-Egger thread!

Thanks little wing. And what about your F1 hens, do they lay olive eggs or just green ones as easter eggers do? My chickens are product of the sabe crosses you did.
I only have 2 OEs and only one of those has laid. It was a green egg. I am going to breed her back to my BCM roo. My EEs lay nice blue eggs.

Here is one of her eggs.

Hi everybody!

I´m new at backyardchickens, I´m posting from central Spain to show you mi 3 months Olive Egger chickens. I did the following crosses:

BCM Roo (chocolate gen) X Partridge bearded EE Hen

Gold Araucana Roo (Rumpless) x BCM Hen (really dark egg layer)

The result is so heterogeneous: some chicks are rumpless (or not), peacombed (or simple), feathered legged (or not), with earings (or not)...

What do you think I should expect about the eggs they´ll lay? I read something about the error of crossing male blue-egg rooster and dark brown egg layers.

Here you are the pics I took yesterday, waiting for your reviews.

Best regards from Spain

do you have Penedesenca by chance?

I don´t know if this forum allows links. If you want to see my farm, visit my site http://laherrendepedro.jimdo.com. Yo can see my animals and make virtual tourism to central Spain. Hahahaha

Awesome!...pictures that is! No habla espanol. I really didn't think that one all the way through, nice dark Marans eggs too! And are your goats Alpines? Sure look it, do you make cheese?

Glad to see you liked my farm!!

Those goats are not alpines, they´re kind of pygmy african goats. I don´t make cheese, have no time enough to, but my grandmas. Of course, not of that goats... I have my farm 1 hour driving from Madrid, it´s a small village in central Spain, where my parents were born. Pedro Bernardo, province of Avila. Working and living in the city is stressing, so I go there twice on weekends and holidays to feel free. It´s a magic valley surrounded by mountains.

And now... starting with olive eggers, green eggs are very rare in Spain, people think we give colourants in poultry food hahahaha! I use to participate in a local forum, but people has few or none experience with EE´s and OE´s, I feel good in Backyardchickens reading your responses, I´m shocked with your knowledge.

Little Wing! That egg is Fabulous!!

McApillo: So cool that you've got a market for your colored eggs. I find many people here are put off with my colored eggs. They only want white eggs because that is what they are accustomed to. I keep Dwarf Nigerian goats. Love them, we do milk them, my first attempt at cheese is coming shortly...

I started this season with 4 OE pullets, now I'm down to just 1 and she's broody, so no Olive eggs for me. :(
