The Olive-Egger thread!

I think I should have a few of these laying next Spring. My flock is freeranging right now and I hatched out some of the Blue Marans with the expectation that the most likely father is the Lavender Ameraucana as that is her true love (they are Mae West and Lawrence Olivier). I should have a mint green layer too probably from the super fluffy Australorp I hatched. Then there are 5 CCL x GLW chicks that have hatched from the current batch that are all autosexing as pullets. Figuring they will be laying a lighter green as well. May cross my lighter green gals back to a BCM or Partridge Penedesenca next year for some darker olive possibilities.

what cuties! Can;t wait till next weekend; my broodie's eggs are due; 2 are an EE boy over a BCM girl and 2 are BCM boys over EE girl. Hoping for at least a couple of pullets. Going to put BCM eggs in the bator next weekend too and when I do I think I will put in some eggs from a pure Blue Ameraucauna that is in the pen with the BCM for more olivers!

Does anyone know what to cross to get bantam olive Eggers? I have a large rooster that hatched from a green egg and I have hens that came from greenish eggs. I have silkies and silkie/Cochin mix girls as well as Cochin hens. I also have a buff Orpington and a couple other brown egg laying chickens. Can I swap some around and end up with some bantam olive eggs? I also have two black and white roosters that dad was a buff silkie and mom was an Easter egger.

I think you will have to start out with bantams. Like a bantam Welsummer and a bantam Ameraucana. That should make a bantam OE. Good luck.

Adorable babies!!

Okay, those of you with the BCM x EE for your OE
look at my now 10 week old OE... does anyone know if it is a boy or a girl? I am not too sure...
Its comb is single and small, but it is so much redder than the other pullets right now..., and almost as red as my known cockerel
Any help would be great

BTW it is the black and gold chicken in the picture....
