The Olive-Egger thread!

These are my two little OE's from my recent hatch, they are six weeks old now. They are a Marans roo over a F1 OE (Marans over Blue EE), and I got one roo and one pullet. I sure hope the pullet is carrying the blue gene, hoping for some pretty olive eggs! roo, Bobby, is looking mostly Marans right now, and is feathering so slow! He barely has half of his feathers in. pullet, Brooke, has the softest feathers, and is a sweet bird so far.
I have a 1 1/2 wk old Maran/OE chick mom was the BCM and Dad was a EE or OE. You can see she (I hope she's a she) has green legs and I think she has the pea comb too (fingers crossed).

Edited to add comb pic, it does look pea in this pic, so hopefully!

Thanks! Yeah, I don't think he is carrying the gene, just hoping she is. Her comb is ? It is really flat, much flatter than my ee pullets that are the same age. But it should be a pea comb, b/c their should only be either pea comb or straight comb in her genetics, and it def. isn't a straight comb!

Cute! Does look like a pea comb, and only one row so far, so hopefully a pullet for you. Of course, it is a little early to tell, but we knew our roo was a boy at 1 week.

My January batch of 12 oliver pullets is starting to lay, and I have one minty green egg layer and one dark bronzey-green so far. I'll have to start trap nesting to see who lays what.

I'll post some egg pictures when I get home from work.

The colors can change during the first couple of weeks. They need to get all of their jets firing for the Brown color.

It is great that you have blue egg shells so far!

WooHoo!! Can you post pics of birds and/or type breeds crossed too please?

I have a bunch of pics of my birds I need to crunch before posting, but I will this weekend. We just got a Rottweiler puppy, so things are a little hectic right now :D

All my Olivers are either marans roo over ameraucana and F1/F2/Backcross hens or ameraucana roo over marans and F1/F2/backcrosses.

Upper middle egg is from the mom of the bronze egg layer. There are a few more olive eggs, couple ameraucana eggs, a marans egg, New Hampshire, and one from a barnyard cross.

At the bottom of this pic is a bronzey pullet egg, and a minty green one. In the middle is the egg laid by the mom of the bronze egg pullet. It is usually a stoney gray olive green, but like in this pic sometimes has a bloom. The bigger one bottom right is from a splash F1xF1 cross. It's a pale olive with brown speckles. Her mom laid the egg on the bottom right in the picture above this one.
