The Olive-Egger thread!

3 OE came from my last hatch. EE hen x FBC Marans roo.
All have muffs and pea combs and two have lightly feathered legs/feet.
I'm thinking I got 2 roos and 1 pullet. What do you think?

small pea comb. very light pink. pullet?

The next two pics are of same chick but the other, un-pictured chick who was too quick to snap a picture of has a nearly identical comb.
Bigger than the first (but still small) pea comb and only slightly pinker. Cockerels?

Thank you!

I don't own the parents so I can't really be sure about her genetics, but I was told her dad was a lavender Marans... What do you think?

I'm no lavender expert...ask DMRippy on BYC. That looks like a blue to me. I only know you should not cross the lav and blue if you're working on lavenders. I believe lavender is the same as "self blue" and is very very light with no lacing or darker hackles like this shows.

You're eggs are beautiful. I'm so jealous! My olive egger is a 9 month old hen now and has never laid an egg. I'm beginning to think she never will. Maybe she'll surprise me for Thanksgiving???

Hi to all!! Just thought I'd take a moment to share my happy discovery!!

She is 27 weeks old and the two dark eggs at the bottom are hers! :woot

Hello,

Anyone know where I can get eggs to hatch at this time of year? We are in California.

Thank you

I have an ameraucauna x red star, and I noticed yesterday that her comb is turning red and growing a little. "She" is almost 9 weeks old. Should I be worried about gender?

My parents F1 cross olive egger just started laying yesterday. I gave them both of my olive egger pullets because I had a beautiful black/red OE girl that laid 7 eggs per week - unfortunately was taken by a raccoon so now I have no OE left. Next round of breeding I am adding them back in!
