Two of my favorite breeds! Post pics if you cross them, please.

Temperature and gender is for certain lizards and other reptiles. Not chickens for sure.

Gender is determined by the egg that the hen lays.

Quote: http://www.backyardpoultrymag.com/determining_sex_in_chicks/ Some think that keeping temps too low or too high will cause one gender to die in the shell. I am not convinced of this at all though.

When you incubate too low or too high, you are causing problems with the chicks that can last a life time for them.

My newest Olive Egger laid her first egg the other day. I was very happy with the egg color. She came from hatching eggs I received so I don't know her exact parentage but I believe she is some sort of Marans/Am combination.

This is her first egg

Very nice!

I like the speckles. Waiting for my first olive egg...from a beautiful lavender Am/Marans cross pullet.

Thank you everyone! Im happy with it. The color looks so much better in natural sunlight, those pics were taken at night under kitchen lights.
