I am so sorry peeps!
If you win the contest for best hatch rate on the New years day hatch a long, I will add some OE eggs for you. They will be Partridge Penedesenca by Arkansas Blues.
I have never heard of Arkansas Blues....what are they like?

They were a Project for a Grad Student in the UofArkansas poultry program. They are blue genetics chickens that lay blue eggs.I have never heard of Arkansas Blues....what are they like?
I just looked them up. That OE combo sounds amazing. Do you have hatching eggs for sale? They were a Project for a Grad Student in the UofArkansas poultry program. They are blue genetics chickens that lay blue eggs.
I love them!

I use the OE eggs as filler for the Arkansas blues eggs.
BTW, since I am using a partridge rooster(single barred) x blue genetics hens, I get sexlinks. The boys will have a white head spot and be barred. The girls will not have the head spot.
Isbar should work. He would be double blue for egg shell color. He may make the brown lighter but you should be able to select for darker green color with future generations.Hi, everyone! I have six Olive Egger pullets and am wanting to bring up a little roo as well for future olive egger/easter egger chicks.
I understand that if the roo is a brown-laying variety, there's a 50% chance that the offspring will lay brown eggs.
If I wanted to guarantee a blue to green color, what would be your suggestions for rooster breed?
I assume that TRUE Ameraucanas and Cream Legbars are possibilities since they only carry the blue gene? What about Isbars (don't know much about this chicken, just know it lays green eggs).
Do you have any suggestions for me? Am I on the right track?
Note: I realize Olive Eggers/Easter Eggers are "mutt" breeds.

Thanks! I was worried about the Isbars because they lay green eggs, so I figured it carried blue AND brown. So that's good to know!Isbar should work. He would be double blue for egg shell color. I don't know that much about how chicken genetics work, but I do want to start my own OE project, too. I would assume that any true blue egg layer would work to guarantee blue green eggs, such as Ameraucana, Cream Legbar, Araucana, or the (new to me) Arkansas Blue (see above on this thread). I think if you used a Cream Legbar, the chicks will be auto-sexing. However, I would also assume that adding blue back to blue-brown, would make the eggs more blue, and less olive. Here is a chart, although I have never seen the mystical "Avacado" egg. Isbars might be the way to go, as they are the only (as far as I know) purebred green egg layer.I'm sure there is someone on here that knows way more than I do. I am interested, too. I just thought I'd share what little I do know. lol!Hi, everyone! I have six Olive Egger pullets and am wanting to bring up a little roo as well for future olive egger/easter egger chicks.
