You never know!Hi, I have a girl who just started laying the most beautiful green eggs I have ever seen! However, I'm unsure exactly of her breed. I was told she was a RSL and Blue Copper Marans mix but now that she's laying that is obviously not the case. If she were RSL crossed with an EE/Ameraucana, would that make her an Olive Egger?
Can you post the picture of the purple/pink egg and the mother. Maybe it has Langhans blood in it like your original CL had something else in them.My purple/pink egg layer is an australorp. So far all her babies lay mint green eggs.

There are 8 gene pairs(or so) that make brown so sometimes you get olive and sometimes you do not.
It does not look green but look at the inside of the eggs. If it has a blue shell, it will be blue on the inside. You can say that again..
Ta Daaa...NOT! Caught her in the act, went inside, grabbed my camera. I was anticipating this beautiful green egg like she came from. Here she is ready to lay.
Is this a green egg?? I think not!![]()
It broke when it hit all of that soft shavings. I feed oyster shell free choice. She may want
it now.
And....is it fertile???I took a lot of photos..here's a few of the better ones.![]()
I'm thinking...yes?
Count on the egg being fertile for two weeks from the last time she was mated. You know, I did think of that earlier, but didn't look. It is a pretty pink brown. Maybe she will lay pink eggs. That would be ok. I hope tomorrows egg..yes, she will lay tomorrow, will be a harder shell. I want to put them in the bator. How long will they be fertile? Thinking.. a week? I won't mind if the eggs are brown really. It's just that I was really expecting the green. I've been telling everyone that I have an OE at point of lay.![]()
@ChicagoClucker in Illinois who has seen fertile eggs from her Legbars almost 3 months after she gave away the rooster. If you are reading this, are you still getting fertile eggs?Count on the egg being fertile for two weeks from the last time she was mated.
added: the eggs could be fertile for more than 30 days but there will be more and more infertile eggs after two weeks.
