The Olive-Egger thread!

Number 5 looks like a boy.

They are cute!
I miss read the numbers!

Yes, number 4 with the triple pea comb and pointy neck feathers. Also, Marans males have more red in the neck at an early age.

#4 (the one in front?) is a probably a male.....triple pea comb, tho not much color to it.
Agreed!

I have EE hens all lay great eggs ! I just hatched A first generation olive egger and I'm thinking it might be a cockerel . I also hatched out a blue Isbar. She definitely looks like a pullet to me. I have a couple pictures if anybody has any ideas on the gender of the white one? Thank you in advance they are about three weeks old

it has grey feathers starting to come in . Beautiful chick ! The tail is growing so fast! In the past with my EE's it's always takin longer for the development of the tail.

I am new to this thread but I started creating olive eggers last year in the winter, I have the results from my first attempt, I crossed FBCMs roo over Ameracaunas and EEs, the following is the results, never mind the date on the eggs, I no longer have this rooster but I am using his son for breeding, 90 % of my olive eggers have feathered legs and feet and most have tuffs/muffs

O of my EEs

My young pullets

A few of my chicks from this cross

Got my first egg from one of my three hens I got in May! Finally! The matron hen has probably forgotten what an egg is and the two juveniles were supposed to be 14-16 weeks old. Thanks to y'all for posting information on laying readiness (i.e. red comb and wattles). She started singing the egg song a few times the past week but didn't find any eggs. Then this evening I found this beauty in the nest box no less. (Shown with two Egglands Best Cagefree Grade A Large Eggs.) Not bad for a first egg. I'm so "egg-cited"!

Does the same red shoulders , uneven pattern , slow growing tail apply to olive eggers like it does to EE's ?
It depends on the parentage but generally yes. Not so much for say Crele Penedesenca x Cream Legbar. They will be completely different.

These are hens.

Hi, I need confirmation before I rehome this cutie. I think it's a roo. I have second thoughts though b/c he doesn't have a comb or wattle yet at 9.5 weeks old. But he acts like a roo. And he was bigger than the others- long legs too. He is an Americauna x white Maran. Very friendly. Is he truly a roo?
