Oh I just found this post.Glad your chicks are doing so good.I wanted to add that the mom was supose to be a splash ameraucana but I think she was a dominent white. She is white with black spots all over(I think the spotted chick is going to be like her mom). The daddy is a very nice feather legged blue copper marans(Now owned by Bargain) from very dark eggs so you should have some good olive eggers with that bunch.
this is my olive egger.she (i hope)is out of a white ameraucana hen and a cuckoo maran roo.she is only 8 weeks so i don't know abou the eggs yet.they should be green but right now i am just hoping she is a she.lol
Is the cuckoo roo a blue cuckoo? To get splash you have to get a blue gene from each parent... wondering if maybe there is a mix up there. All my babies from at least one ameraucana parent had a beard too... maybe someone mixed up eggs? VERY pretty bird, looks like a girl to me.
got a new camera cable finally! Here is a pic of my barred bearded pea combed clean legged roo that I hope will help me out a lot in my barred olive egger pen this year. Below is what he has to work with, six pullets. Three are bearded, three are clean faced. Most have feather legs which I would like to breed out.
well, no matter. She is beautiful and will lay either green or blue. Win win as far as I can see! You will have to post pics of her eggs when she does lay. Hope you get a GOOD surprise, no matter what happens!

there could have been a mix up.all i know is that is what i was told and i hatched her myself from a very blue egg.maybe the mailman.....lol
about the splash-i was told that she wasn't because of the blue gene thing.she is just a white bird with random black feathers.i love her anyway...
not to say she's not what you think she is, just stating an observation for thought... she looks ALOT like my EE/lehorn mixes, they are mostly white with a smattering of random black feathers.. dad is gorgeous.. but def not blue... i think it's more of a dominant white with some black leaking?? maybe?? i have no idea... like i said, just adding my info for knowledge sake.. i don't know genetic coloring at all....
it looks like her tail feathers are doing the same thing my christmas EE baby has... where her feathers are all wispy... my girl has that happening on all her feathers though, and i haven't taken pics or tried to research it yet... any idea on what's going on with that??
this EE hatched out of my green that's a light olive, and i'm hoping to use her to lay olive eggers later.. as long as i don't get a red light on her due to whatever this feather issue is....
