The Olive-Egger thread!

Thank you thank you! I'm not certain if they are homozygous for the blue egg gene... but all of mine are second generation Barred Olive Eggers. They are from OnTheSpot, so Patty gets all the credit for all the work on these beauties! They all have normal looking small pea combs (hens and the roo)... they will be laying soon... soooo exciting. I really appreciate your time and all the information you have shared!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on this thread forever, and finally got my first olive egg today!!! It's so cute, with speckles!

Here's the egg (between a BR and RIR)

Hi All - Thought I'd update you on my Olive Eggers. I'm now on my third and fourth generation and actually working on what I like to think of as a "new breed" - "The Bethels" (named after my farm). I'm trying to breed for what looks like a Blue Copper Marans but has muffs and feathered feet. Here's a few of them and yes, they all lay a beautiful olive egg.

You can see some of their eggs in this batch:

While most of my hens are broody right now, I could still manage to put together and sell a dozen eggs if anyone is interested.

Ruth, it's nice to see you. Beautiful birds. I have an olive egged rooster from you.(first generation). Mary (the warden) bought eggs from you, hatched him and gave him to me. His pics are a few pages back.

Hi Ruth! Those birds are very nice, I love the blue color in it's varying varieties. What did you use for your initial cross?
