The Olive-Egger thread!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I am so excited about my first GREEN egg! I have 2 EE's who are old enough to start laying, but I don't know which one did it.....

I have a couple co workers who never heard of EE's, so I will bring it to work tomorrow to show it off.....

Thanks--my girls just started laying last week--I gotten some medium colored brown eggs, and some biege ones, but this is my first green one. I'm hoping some of my younger EE's ( which won't lay for 2-3 more months) lay bluish eggs!

The first of my olive eggers has just fished zipping and is totally out

Another has started pipping even though day 21 really only starts at 7PM tonight.

I got these eggs from Wynette on the Auction here. Bought 6 Olive Eggers and 6 Black Copper Marans, she sent seven of each. Two of the BCM are hatched already also.

So these are really OLIVE olive eggs. Of course I hope for girls.

I am setting up my brooder setup. I am using a 20 gallon long aquarium so I can have chicken TV. Hoping for lots more to hatch but know that I am not supposed to open the incubator.

Honestly I was so sure I had done just about EVERYTHING wrong as it is my first hatch. But supporters on another chicken forum urged me to be patient and not give up that it would turn out well.

ok, I have a n olive-egger roo, Rags, with fertilized eggs from a white leghorn set to hatch next week, what will the offspring look like and will their eggs be green?
THANKS

Happy hatching Rita!
I love the aquarium idea. I use clear rubbermaid tubs for the same reason. I like to keep them at face-level, or sitting- face level. It seems like my chicks grow up friendlier if they are used to seeing me at their normal line of vision rather than the giant food lady from above.

I didn't have any clear tubs, only the solid color ones. I did have the 20 gallon long aquarium. They have an longer base which is great for using them as a brooder.
