The Olive-Egger thread!

I lost my best olive egger this week, a dog got into the chicken run and killed a roo and my best hen. I will miss that beautiful blue bird!

Gosh, I just came in to say how excited I am that my two latest olive eggers' combs are beginning to turn red (they turned 24 weeks today) and saw your post.

OK, pictures of my two olive egger chicks. Two weeks old tomorrow. I am holding the black chick first. It has the largest comb, even larger than the real BCM in with them.

Now I am holding the blue olive egger. I has gotten so dark now that it has feathers. It's almost black. Not sure now if its going to be blue or black. I sure hope its a girl.

So do I have one boy and one girl? Also I am so ignorant that I don't even know what type of comb that first chick has. Please someone explain it to me. I know I want it to have a pea comb.

What a neat thread! I used to get eggs from my step-dad's workplace. It was his job to collect them and the olive ones were usually huge! I can't remember what breeds they were, though.

I wonder why they don't sell those in the stores.

He doesn't work there anymore, so no more fresh, olive, brown or spotted eggs.

I don't think they are that well known yet to be sold commercially.. I think the average customer would not like the color or the price of an Olive Egg.

I sure do though!
