The Olive-Egger thread!

That's not actually true; I've had several with 3 rows of peas (in olive eggers...NOT in Ameraucanas) end up to be girls!

So then the bases for IDing it as a boy is the red showing in the comb? I really can't see how many rows the comb has.

On another note, these 3 (I have them two in with my only BCM chick) were so skittsy. They would crash into the walls trying to get away from me when I came near them evcen though I held them every day. So I decided to bribe them. I got mealworms and it only took them two days until they were running to me instead of away. Now all I have to do is talk to them or go near them and they run right over. Stick my hand in the brooder and they run right to it looking for the treats.

I FINALLY get to post pics in this thread!

However, my olive egg came from a very unlikely source. I have a beautiful hen that is the offspring of a Delaware rooster and a hatchery EE hen. Imagine my surprise when I found this gorgeous egg in the nest box. I was really expecting her to lay either brown or "EE green" eggs. After all, you wouldn't expect this color from an EE hen with WHITE legs.

This little lady has made my daily trip to gather eggs a lot more exciting.

shelleyb - gorgeous girlie you got there! VERY pretty egg...you need a BCM roo to breed her to? 2nd gen's eggs would be AWESOME out of her, plus.....babies ought to be very interesting! How FUN!

I do have a young BCM rooster...but I'd love to find a young pure Davis rooster.

Just had a hatch 4 weeks ago...I sold most but have 6 left, and it appears (Murphy's law) that I have 5 cockerels, so I feel like I might know where you could fine one!

The babies will be sex-linked and awesome. In fact, you'll have quite the similarities of the Olive Eggers I'm making.

The males will be a creamy barred copper ("golden cuckoo") and the females will be a variety of mossy, pencilled, and "golden" black copper.
