The Olive-Egger thread!

Quote:
You can never tell the real color in the photos. If it looks olive to you, then call it olive! The second photo certainly looks olive on my computer.

There is no standard for mutt chickens, thank goodness. I have several mutt olive eggers, and they lay several shades of olive, and I love them all together.

Congrats! Enjoy your new olive egg!

Thank you all for comments on my "olive" green egg. I'm certainly happy with it, because it's my first colored egg, ever! I have another Olive Egger pullet from Wynette - can't wait to see what color she'll lay.

That's a wonderful egg. I suppose many in this thread wish for much darker, but it's also nice to have a broad spectrum of shades represented in the egg carton. I consider my girls who lay similar eggs every bit as valuable as the dark olive, the Marans, the true blue, etc...

It really is fun to have them all. and it looks like you will have a different shade with Wynettes.
The first one here is an EE egg, the second two are Olive Eggers, brown ones Cuckoo Marans
bottom left-GREEN laying Ameraucana and then three blues

Now I would never breed that hen, but boy, does she lay and I sure like having the eggs!!
