The Olive-Egger thread!

Aw, she's so pretty! What cross is she?

I have no idea. I am assuming there is some Americana in there because of the beard, but not sure what else. The guy that gave her to us had a huge assortment and did not know what was what. He just picked out two good layers for us. (we ended up with her and a cornish that lays 7 eggs a week) They are somewhere between 9month-year, or younger.

You think so? So I could call her a barred oe or is she a barred ee

I'd say OE. They look very similar to my wellie x EE eggs, but a brighter green. All of my EEs are just minty or blue. Do what those other peole suggested- crack one open and see what color is on the inside. Very nice!

Crack it open? Haven't heard of this. What do I look for and what's it tell? I'll have to get a few more first. Lol. I'm blowing these out and saving em so I don't have it in me yet to crack one. They are so pretty. I first experience with a "different" color egg.

Continuing from post #2186...

Here's the splash (??) Ameraucana roo that was crossed with my French Black Copper Marans hens. I have a couple other photos that I took today, but haven't uploaded, yet. I can, if you need to see more photos.

I have no idea why it didn't cross my mind before now, but this roo was a blonde chick, which should confirm that it is a splash, right?

Well, he sure does look like a Splash Ameraucana to me! He's a very nice roo, too. If you crossed him with Black Copper Marans you should have gotten 100% blue offspring.

Are you sure your chicks aren't a very, very dark blue?

Let's see some more pictures!
