Could I get an olive egger by mating a Welsummer with a pure Ameraucana? Which would need to be the rooster? or does it not matter? Just asking as I'm about to hatch some Wellies and AMs and I would love to get olive eggers later.

I believe it's a black alstralope but I've been hatching Dominque and Kacoo Marans as well.

This red Roo is one that came from the next door neighbor and his sisters were the olive egg layers. He is a mix of Rhode Island red and Ameracauna. Slick is the beautiful white rooster in the back his daddy was Lt. Brahma, but I have no idea what his mom could be since he is all white except for black on his tail feathers. He has big comb and wattles so maybe Buff Orpington was mom. Any ideas?

I saw this thread a few months back and of course I looked at my flock to see who I could breed. I only have mutts so I know my chances get slim but... I used mixed a EE?? roo that I have (dad was a BA and he came from a blue egg) and some mutts that lay a dark egg. I set 4 and hatched 4. Is there any way to tell other than waiting to see what color the egg might be? Do these look like OK choices? This takes patience I am not sure I have.
