the splash marans and the blue wheaten ams should make 50% blue copper & 50% splash copper chicks, i think.

We just started a pen of olive eggers. We put a Splash Marans roo, who happens to be showing a lot of copper and blue, over our easter eggers which include a couple of wheaten ameracauna hens that washed out of that pen. We previously had a blue wheaten ameracauna roo over the easter egger hens we picked up at the local feed barn. That put some nice blue highlights on some of the hens and made for better beards. I am very intereted to see how the Splash Marans, who of course is largely white, will influence the color of the offspring.

Thanks for your insight, we'll have to wait and see. What we are hoping for is to increase the size of the birds and vary the colors some. We also hope to keep the beards and of course have olive green eggs. The Marans roo has very good type and looks like he will be quite large as he matures.

I am hatch F2 olive eggs. Boy they are hatching easily. I have 3 little black olive eggers, 4 barried olive eggers hens, 3 which are muffed. So far all the chicks have feather legs. All crossed back to BCMs except one. I bought a cuckoo marans rooster that was suppose to be hatched from a #8 colored egg.
PS anyone wanting olive eggers egg close to Modesto, California I have them $1. a egg. Hatching great. ...

I just crossed my olive egger roo (not my stock, so of unknown background) with some of my other birds who lay, green, olive, and dark brown.
I'll let you know what colors they lay in 7 months or so!

Isn't it a shame ya have to wait so long to see what color eggs the pullets will lay.... hoping for darker olive eggs. Not marans brown.. Time will tell...

I am anxious to get an Olive Egger, but I have to get my 20 posts in before I can post a wanted classified ad. Some of your eggs are absolutely beautiful! I'm going for an array of colored eggs and olive would be a fantastic touch to the EE eggs and lighter brown I'll get from my chicks when they are old enough. Thanks for all the pictures

Well, my F2 chicks (F1 x F1) are getting bigger now, and so far it looks like I'll have a lot of boys but also still a few girls, one is a very dark rumpless blue. The tufted ones, one appears a boy, the other I haven't checked enough lately but might be a girl.

I lost my beautifully perfect/big double tufted rumpless one though.

Not including the white!


Which, just an update, here's a photo of my F1 blue gal. Her breast is getting deeper in color as she matures, and the color is spreading well to hear neck and head.

My Olive Eggs are also From EE 's .. I Like to save them and make Green Eggs and Ham for special Company.. Little children Just Love the Variety packs .. Since I have Free Rangers and they occasionally Lay in sneaky spots My Grand kids feel like they are going on an Easter Egg Hunt every time they visit ! I Have Plans to add some Cockerals in the Future ( To Add The Darker Redish Eggs ) Hoping some day with allowing so many to cross breed we get a more Pink Egg some day too : )

I have several green egg layers, but a few that lay a truly dark olive egg and I can't figure out which ones they are!!!!! I had several hens go broody and I stuck as many olive eggs as I picked up under them, so I'm hoping I get a few more. I have several breeds, but mostly EEs.
