Getting way ahead of myself here, but how do these combos sound to work on blue-barred Olivers?

BCM/Barred roo over blue EE/OE - that would give me more barred chicks of both genders and black & blue barring right? But no sex linking? And more Olivers?

Blue EE roo over Cuckoo Marans hens - sex linked chicks, but only the males barred and only half of the males blue-barred? But good egg color?
You got it! You have a BCM/ Barred Roo? or a Golden Cuckoo Marans? BCM are not barred. WHATCHA GOT?????

Do keep in mind that the roos from the first cross and the second will only have ONE COPY OF THE BARRING GENE and will not breed true.

I think half the males would be double barred and half single. females would be single barred.
Take the double barred males and breed back to Cream legbar
Correct me if I am wrong on this but think this is correct
Only if you want light colored green eggers, you need a CLB roo over a Black/Bluec copper Maran hen, take the best roo out of that cross and mate it back to the another BCM hen and this way you will encrease the shade of the dark green eggs...

I have one little guy from my recent hatch that looks like he came from my BCM roo x BR hens. The rest look like pullets (all black/straight combs). Otherwise I don't have any barred roos. Just trying to figure out how I can get blue barred olivers with what i have. How do I get the barring to stick with only one copy of the gene?

I also have Cuckoo Marans hens. If I end up with a blue EE roo would it be better to cross them instead of the Barred Rock guy?

Quote: The barred roo you have will pass the barring to HALF his of spring. Use a Cuckoo and you will get some double barred roos, but not all 50/50. All the pullets will be barred right from either hatch.

Are they the eggs you got from me? If so that is a Sexlinked Olive Egger Roo from my barred EE hens. You didn't get any blues from my hatch? Odd.... the roos is a Blue Copper Marans... should have gotten some.......
