The Olive-Egger thread!

I think I have decided to sell most of my Olive Eggers. Due to the fact that I just do not have time for them right now, their egg color needs a bit of work, they are gorgeous sweet birds, don't get me wrong but I just don't have the time to devote to another project right now. I'm going to sell out of several other breeds as well. I think I'll have my hands full enough with the waterfowl. It's a tough choice and I hate to do it, but I just don't have the time for them just now.

Just had to get this off my mind....thanks for listening.

I may end up keeping 3 or 4 OE pullets I hatched out this year, just for their pretty eggs and fluffy cheeks. ; )

I'm not sure where to post this so I'm putting it on the OE thread because that's what I plan to do with him. I went to look at at Birchen Marans and saw this guy and had to have him. He came out of a Marans egg from a well respected Marans breeder in Texas. He only has Marans on his farm but this guy has the cheeks of an Ameraucana and doesn't seem to have the body of a Marans. I thought, him crossed with a Lavender Ameraucana would make a nice looking OE.
His name is Powder

Sorry, these are cell phone pics.

He is NOT a Marans. The color is off too, they don't come in that color. Looks more like an EE with a straight comb. He is a mix for sure! Pretty boy though!

I have SO many projects and need the pens, I may have the same problem in the spring. I can always make more since I will have EE or Ams and Marans. BUT I am getting some good color and want to work on my OWN Olive Eggers

My OE's are Welsummer x Black and Splash Ameraucanas. I have two OE hens a Splash OE boy and a steel blue/orange roo. What should I price them at, do you think?

And I know what you mean, Ack! My Egg color is a medium olive color, but very light. I want some of those uber dark olive shells. *drools* But not right now, before I add any new additions I am going to make it a MUST to have their housing already built! LOL

IDK... here I sell layers for $15-20 for Reg Breeds and $25 for a good Marans and Lav Ams. I will be selling my BLRW for $35 for pullets. To me an Olive egger would be a SPECIALTY Mix so $20ish is what I would ask for a young one laying.
That is about what I sell mine for as well. Thanks sugar. For sure I have two adult 2 y/o hens and two roosters. Both girls are molting but still laying well so $20-$25.00 each is a fair price I'd say.

He did come from a Marans egg, so he is a mix. What should I do with him? I don't have mature OE hens yet. Should I put him over EE or Marans?
