what do you sculpt them with? I'd love to know how you do this.
And are these the same dolls that make the news every so often when some well-meaning person alerts the cops that a poor baby is unresponsive in a vehicle, and then the cops break into the car . . . .
Yes, it's called reborning, people paint the bare vinyl doll kits using various tools and techniques and try to get as much realism as possible-- it's amazing what some of them can do!!
I sculpt these just using Sculpey flesh-colored polymer clay-- I sell the unbaked sculpted head to the doll factory and they bake it in a kiln and then make a rubber mold and then metal molds for pouring the vinyl-- we do all of it right here in Midland, MI when most companies get their dolls made in China--
no art school-- I've just always fiddled around with art stuff--and just decided a few years ago -- I think 3 or 4-- that I wanted to sculpt--
WOW.... I thought you were joking and posted pictures of real children!
Those are beautiful! My grandmother would have loved them, she collected dolls like that. I inherited them once she passed away. Unfortunately, they are all in storage right now, because we don't have a display case suitable and my grandmother had four sons, none of which really cared to display a bunch of baby dolls...
You are truly gifted! I am amazed by your artistic skill. These dolls are just magnificient! And I'm serious - wow! I hope you realize your talent and are appreciated for it ... and financially too! I think that artistic people sometimes underestimate their gift.
Well I'm under contract with this company for I think another year, and then I can submit dolls to Ashton Drake, etc-- which would mean bunches more money per sculpt-- have to decide whether to stick with the hometown company or go really big-time--
I might be a bit artistic but business sense? not so much
I am so blown away. My DS looked over my shoulder and ooed at the cute babies. He almost wouldn't believe me that they were dolls. I'm still having a hard time believing it. You are incredibly talented.
