Instead of hitting one, Seiko leveled off as he reached their level and flew beside them.
The crows cawed in annoyance and kept flying.

"The name's Alder, at your service." Alder bowed slightly. "I am shunned by the other crows because of a council of ravens called the Boundless Ravens. They are supposed to be the most intelligent and go wherever they please and do want they want, spreading silly omens to the different flocks of crows and ravens. And when they heard of my name, they "foretold" my future and destruction I would cause to crow and raven nations simply because my name doesn't sound strong like "Thunder" or "Thorn". I have been in hiding ever since because they want to exile or kill me; preferably kill."
(Ok! Crows don't truly migrate to places like Florida or South America like a robin, but can go out of their home range to look for food. Sorry, I'm a bird nerd.....![]()
Oh, by the way, Alder is a crow from a story I'm writing. I'm thinking about posting it.)
"Yes, the other crows readily believe anything those wretched ravens tell them. Have they been bothering you at all? Food is getting scarcer now and everyone is getting desperate." Alder ruffled his feathers.
(Have you ever stood out on a pier on Lake Michigan with high waves, and blasting(wind-burning)winds just to see a Long-Tailed Duck out on the waves, rarely coming into sight, just so you can add the species to your life list?Yes, I'm a crazy birder...
I the only bird obssessed person in my family and gets up before everyone else in my bright pink pajamas and goes in the woods to see migrating warblers in the spring.)
"The raven council isn't here at the moment. They've been spreading the word about me to other crow and raven flocks. We should probably get out of sight, before the other crows get too curious." Alder eyed the crow flock with a beady eye.
Samba and RainSong sat in a tree, talking about their old life.
"I'm just glad that we escaped..." Rain whispered
"Yes... But that is the past, darling. We must live the present." Samba said bravely.
