The first three Pita Pinta eggs did not develop.

I just popped 13 in there for try #2!

I hope they develop!

Sorry about that, Ron. I'll cross my fingers for the next ones! I have 16 that I am giving to broodies tonight. Fertility has been good with Zorro and Don Juan so hopefully they will hatch. Now the next problem is where to put all the mamas and babies!

yes, I know!

I bet they will be fertile this time.

The hardest part for me is getting them to Pepe every night.

I should have picked a Spanish name. The girls went with serious.qe are 98% fertile and showing great veining. I just need to calm down on the humidity and I'm sure hatches will improve. Also I figured out why.my bator was having hot spots. Ding dong me had the water cups in the center under with the fan.when I put the water back in the outer well the hot spots were gone....

Hey guys. I've been watching this thread for a while now. I have a few projects going on right now, consisting of building a rabbit shed, chicken coop, and maybe some chicken breeding pens. Anyways, I might be looking into hatching some PP eggs sometime this year if everything works out alright. How late into the year would you all be willing to ship eggs?

Anyways, I might be looking into hatching some PP eggs sometime this year if everything works out alright. How late into the year would you all be willing to ship eggs?

I'm not sure how long I will be shipping eggs. I want to give my breeders a break from the breeding pens. The other birds on the farm are free ranging and enjoying the weeds & bugs while my Pita Pinta just watch them. I also need to breed my Langshan and currently we only have 3 breeding pens set up. At this point, I will probably have the Pita Pinta in breeding pens until some time in May. I'm dreaming of building a few more pens but we'll see if that happens. I have quite a few chicks already but they are from Zorro and the combination of hens & pullets. My practice is to hatch lots of chicks so I can pick the best 2-3 cockerels and the best 10 pullets for the next breeding season. I will eventually cull harder than I am now. Maybe I'm wrong with this approach but the gene pool for this breed is so small that I want to keep a larger number of birds at this point.

Pita Pinta hatch day!!! I love waking up to tiny peeps! One is out and 4 more pipped! Also, Chris's one silkie egg and one Delaware egg both have pipped!
