The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
I enjoy seeing the pics of your girls! I need to do a better job of photographing mine. I have a group of chicks that are around 10 weeks old and they are hysterical! Most of them are cockerels and are slated for freezer camp. I will need to move them to the farm in the next week or so. 1 of them boys has discovered his voice. It is just a scratchy little crow right now but he is practicing. I'm sure that some of the other ones will start imitating him soon!

Thanks! I appreciate that. I love taking pictures of them, but as everyone says, it's so hard because they are always moving! I am amazed by some of the chicken photography on this site. I got my birds from Ron when they were about 10 weeks -- would love to see yours!

I wish I could have a roo -- it sounds like so much fun. They are illegal where I live, and my lot is so small he would definitely bother people.

Both the King Freedom starter crumbles and the layer pellets have DE in them. It is the 7th ingredient listed in the starter. I use DE in the coops but don't add it to the feed since it is already in it.
DE is what King feed is using for the total calcium content in the feed. Adding more DE or calcium(parrot grit has calcium so use chick grit) would be bad.

DE is a great source of calcium

So do you think I might be over feeding it to them? They have free choice oyster shell too and I have noticed that some of the shells had been getting thinner when they were on just the dry feed with no other calcium. (I may have also been over doing it on vegetable scraps)

I have oyster shell available at all times except when they run out and I don't notice!

Maybe just don't add extra calcium to their feed. If they need it, they will eat the oyster shell. Were they on King feed when you noticed the thin shells?
