It is hard to say! How old was She?

I hope you find more eggs to hatch! It gets harder as we move through summer to find them.

My PP's are eleven weeks. Sweet little girls, so easy to catch. They also don't square off with each other like my SL Wyandottes and EE's did when they were that age.

They are sweet!

Heat causes them to pant and then they hunch down and spread their wings. After that, they will seem to have a seizure and fall over.

I have an orbit misting line that does a good job of cooling them down.

I put a mister up, they hunkered in the corner away from it. My big girls don't like the misters either, crazy chickens.

When it's really hot, I spray the bushes next to the patio down and we have a big fan I can aim down low. They lay under the bushes, it acts like a swamp cooler of sorts.

We've been free ranging the PP and big girls together during the day. PP's are getting bolder, not running away every time one of the big girls get close. I figure by mid-October they will be ready to fully integrate.

They do not have to be under the mister for it to work. I cools the air by about 10 degrees in the area.

It seems to be taking some time for them to integrate!

It usually takes a couple of weeks if they are close to the same size.

I still haven't integrated them into the big coop yet. I have another cage near hubs shop and they free-range during the day. They are so sweet, I don't want to subject them to the bullies. It hasn't rained or froze yet, so they have been ok with just tarped top and sides, but I can't weatherproof it completely.

Weather would not be much of an issue there. Predators can be a issue anywhere though.

One of my girls went broody last week. I thought I lost her, but she was at our next door neighbor's house sitting on a nest of eggs. Brought her home and put her in the greenhouse for now. Brice at Sunbird Farms said he has six fertilized PP eggs he can send me. So I'll slip those in as soon as they arrive. I don't have a rooster, hopefully one of the six will give me one. The hatch she came from was ALL hens (8-12 shipped eggs hatched).

I'm so excited
