The Plymouth Rock Breeders Thread- Part Deux

Pics
Wind means nothing unless it's blowing on them. We get the same weather as you or colder. Needs a place out of wind if wintering in barn.

The barn is out of the wind and well-ventilated. Still got frostbite. I really can't envision any more that could be done about it unless I could install a fan up high to suck the air out, and that's not really possible at this time. Is what it is *shrug*

I'm not even going to go into what happened to the last batch of 30 something eggs. What a horrid year for getting any numbers of chicks on the ground. Ugh.

Anywho, thought I'd post some pics's of the two first K's hatched from the cross this year. Only five chicks from first hatch and these are the two K's. Oh, about 5 weeks now. Coming along nicely. One has serious red plumage already for wing shoulder and wing band. Too much so to be Autosomal I hope. That is in one of the lines I'd used for Silver and pops up now and then at 20ish weeks. This must surely be Partridge expression. First year growing them and a cross at that so no real experience to call upon. I'll be calling Enise soon to show him some pics and pick his brain. Have larger batch of three week olds in brooder. Nowhere near the numbers I'd hoped for this summer. One hen and hatching outcome has low due to my cock and my own stupid mistakes. It is what it is. Hope there is something to show for it all by summer's end.

You can see first two pics are of one K and last two are of other. First K, has the Mahogany of wing expressing dramatically at this age over his brother. The pullet next to him looks good for pattern and overall size at this age. As I'd thought they are showing some brown due to cross. You see it in her head still, that brown down that should go away- may express in hue when adult plumage comes in.

That's great!!!

I have eggs incubating and developing, finally. Sat 27 last Monday, 6 were clear. Sat another 12 last night. They aren't laying well at all in this heat. I was really hoping for three batches of 20+, but obviously that's not meant to be. Will collect for one more week and call it quits, I think. A three week difference is about as far as I want to manage.

Yeah, I've got a dozen of Partridge incubating since Monday. There is a very good chance my cock stopped mating in the heat wave we had. His fertility was low as it is but can't wrap my mind around what happened last incubation attempt other than he's failed completely. Will know in another week if this dozen is developing or not. Incubator is perfect temp so will be all him if a bust.

Got any photos of what you did hatch? Been wanting to see peoples new birds and there hasn't been anything posted to speak of. Where's the chicks?

I am posting this here hoping the experts can help. We got some eggs from a family friend and hatched iut some chicks just almost 3 weeks ago. She said they were crested cream legbars and olive egger eggs. Another thread said the looked like barred rocks. Can anyone confirm what breed these 4 could be and possibly pullet or cockrel? (We know our other 6 are indeed ccl. 2f/4m)
Thanks

2 and 3 are male. 1 is female. They are your CCL x Olive Egger crosses. Definitely not Barred Rocks. They're barely barred.
