I don't even think they are hatchery Rocks. I think they're mixes.

That could be, Cyn - the comb on the male in the basket looks pretty wide to me.

Good eye!! Most hatchery stock is much better than that, quite honestly.

I know mine was, certainly, and the BRs from a friend's flock that came from a different large hatchery was also much better. Even their daughters, whose sire was from one hatchery and mother from the other, are much better barred than the ones in the photo. To me, they are clearly some cross.

hi guys,I am new to the chicken world and I am starting my flock soon,I just came across this seller and to me these chicken look as if they are not pure plymouth,I would really appreciate your help regarding the breed of these chicken

First of all, Welcome, and I hope you don't take these comments personally. You have some backyard chickens, but you are right, they are not pure bred Barred Rocks..

Fred, these are from your eggs. I succesfully hatched 16 of 18. Unfortunately 13 of the 16 are roosters, with no barred pullets. I have consistantly hatched about 2/3 roosters in my limited efforts, but this is even worse. Lot of sparing going on. Hatched on the 15th, all are long legged and healthy.

Hey Scott, the boys down there have females. Don't worry. I'd get two females from Bob or Mary. Just give them a call sometime and meet them the Mickey D's to pick them up. No worries at all. They'd probably be $8 a pullet or something like that. PM me if you need the phone # at the farm.

BTW, that's one good looking Red in that photo!!! hahaha. He's a cockerel too. You have a gift.
