I LOVE the shape of those pullets! What a razor sharp back line! My oldest pullets from this year's breeding are only 2 mo. old but are just now showing some good chicken shapes...time will tell who will shine. I have my eye on a few that already show a little better size/line/feather than the others...just a little.

Unfortunately, this particular photo was uploaded as a thumb nail, basically, so it doesn't enlarge. If pickin would be so kind as to reload this photo, by itself, in a large sized photo, there are important instructional points to be made. I saw them immediately and would love to point them out, but the photo is too small.

If you dropped me off on a dessert island with a colony of people, to start a new country, this little flock would need to go with us.

Here's the first "cut out". Folks this is an 8 week old chick, yet? Look at the tail formation and the little tent forming. If you can see this atready at 8 weeks, this gives you such encouragement for a proper tail spread on a female in your program.

You are extremely unlikely to ever get this on a hatchery chick at 8 weeks or any other age.

Look back there toward the feeder, the white and red feeder. Notice the male and female, side by side, with their butts pointed to the camers.
This is size and width. These are 8 week old chicks, yet? Look at the width expressed. Nice to see. Again, this isn't somethng you will ever see in hatchery scrubs sold as Barred Rocks.

One last thing, then I'm off to church. If these chicks have access to green grass, even for a couple hours a day, those legs will shine with yellow of a daffodil or sunflower. Brilliant, vibrant yellow legs. It's in their breeding and just a little time spent on grass pulls it right out. If there's a prettier sight than a Plymouth Rock chick, at 8 weeks old, flashing bright yellow legs I don't know what it would be.
