Thanks for sharing...so hard to photograph birds. We all know this to be so true

Yes, I feel quite fortunate they were willing to work with me. It was the photos of their birds that excited me about Rocks in the first place and I have a lot of respect for them and their experience. Several breeds never made it to the table because the breeders didn't reply to my inquiries. Everything has worked out well so I really can't complain!

You're not kidding about the difficulty in getting photos of birds.. between their normal level of activity and the ridiculous delay on my camera it's a wonder any photos came out at all! lol

Fred, thanks very much for the critique!! My eye must be improving because I had similar feelings about each bird you mentioned. This copy of the SOP is getting some use! Some are multiple photos of the same bird. I will identify and band them asap to keep track from here.

This was the sire of most of those birds, when he was 16 weeks. Easy to see the family resemblance. Look how light he was at that age. He actually darkened a bit as he matured, but he's still what I would call from the light strain.

Wow, there is a strong resemblance here. I like him.

I am wondering if anyone on here has black rocks? I have some very nice looking bantam black rocks. I have three girls find two boys, it a friend wants ne of my Roos.... So I need to get some pictures and get your thoughts. Both boys have a nice red comb, good body type and fairly yellow legs. One has brighter yellow legs, but not as upright of a roo tail. The other has more upright almost fancy roo tail, slightly paler yellow legs, but more iridescence in his feathers. Not sure best one to keep right now. The girls are all, pullets and not yet laying but look really nice so far. Any pictures from anyone?

Ok here are some pictures of my boys- bantam black rock.
They are about 4 -5 months old. Which is the better and how do they look for hte breed?
this is the boy with the fluffier tale.

this is the other roo boy

and here is a pic with both roos. Or would you keep both for breeding? I dont have a huge coop and have a boy guinea so prefer only one boy in here. My friend has another black rock pullet so was going to give her the other roo to keep and I can borrow if needed.
your thoughts?

I'm not certain what the ABA standard calls for, but here is what I see

Nice leg color
Consistent width front to back
No profile shot, so hard to judge top line/underline
Hackles are showing some white and/or silver....I do not think that is allowable
Wing carriage could be a little better
Not certain if its just the photo, but does the color appear "blue"?? I see some beetle green, but appears there is some blue as well???

Are the 3 pix of 3 different birds?

The second bird (on left in above pix) appears to be not well balanced to me....heavier on the front.

Of the two, I would use the first bird posted

No this is the same bird in each post. The first has the shorter tale roo and the one you copied has the longer tailed roo
. It has alot of the bettle green irridescence, but not dont see blue.
The silver is more a reflection of the color...just how the flash caught it. I dont see it in person.
Thanks for the feedback.
