thanks fred. he is an april hatch i have three more thats younger if one of those three have a longer back thats the one we will go with maybe

I like the barring on this girl you posted. It is more crisp than the one who has a nice tail.

She is from my older hen here:

Hope she has some potential. Mother has stray black feathers, but her type is pretty good (I think?)
ETA: Again with the back leg pose! HA

I think the pullet is an improvement over her mother and looks quite nice.....look at the neck and head of the pullet compared to the dame. The mother appears to have little to no neck and a slightly small head, the pullet has a "stately" neck, nice wide head and appears to have a longer back....I think you have a good one there

Thanks :) I will have to band her and keep my eye out for her development.

Ken, don't give up on him yet. He's too nice. Wait a while longer. He's still too young. That tail has GOT to furnish out though. Also wait to see if he picks up his wing a bit as he matures. There's still time.
Best regards,
Fred

Big spread on the ages. From as little as 19 weeks to 30. Copy and post a photo and I can tell you.

This age group. The first group looks to be the 19 week age. These ones look older to me.

This is my favourite male you posted. I just like him. If he doesn't make your finials I would be surprised. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He's #2 in the current juvie roster. My gut says he'll end up being #1. Time, time, time. He's only 23 weeks old.

While it may or may not be split wing, it is genetic to my way of thinking and as such it shows itself from time to time. It may also be a hatching defect or shape defect while in the egg. All I know, in the end, is this. If it is just the way that particular bird is holding it at that moment or if he/she holds it most of the time? Gone. Again, wait. Some juveniles lose those ugly wing feathers at their final youthful moult.
