The Plymouth Rock Breeders thread

OFF TOPIC.

I have a friend who helped me get some Nelson Rhode Island Reds this year. It was a really tough year. My friend only hatched out a few chicks. He sent me a few eggs and tried to send live chicks. What do I have to start with? I have a juvenile pullet and three little chicks in the brooder, 4 weeks old. That's it. I'm delighted to have these 4 rare chicks. They aren't going to be perfect and, through the luck of the draw, may not even represent the Nelson line very well. We shall see. Nonetheless, it is a start and I intend to breed them as best I can and start with what is in front of me. That's all I can do. I love the birds and am grateful to have them. That's what counts. I'll worry about winning a National three or four or five generations from now. LOL

Hi John Farmer, I love your birds, big with style, I'm sure with a little work they will be great?
A couple of pics of my 2013 hatch.

Another of my favorites every time you post up on here BRITROCK I like the dark barring with the crisp marking on the males that is hard to do to.

This is what happens when you cross a white rock onto a strain of barred rocks many years ago.

This is the tail you dream about on a barred rock. However, how do you keep this kind of tail on our males for years to come.

Can you fix this trait on a strain.? I hope so.

Most tails over the last 20 years on males have been sad to poor. bob

Thank you I got a message from his phone going to call him tonight and get a report. It was about six years ago I got a call from this beginner. So proud of his results over this time.

So it proves a beginner can and will have success if you put your mind to it. Thanks for the tip. You guys are great.

Ok folks.....I need some advise

There is an individual who has been after me for 2 yrs to sell them a trio of birds. Last yr this person "backed out" at the last minute due to issues with car problems. SO, I sent them eggs, which were never paid for (not a big deal.....but). Since Jan of this year, they've been after me again. I've promised them a trio, again, but with the caveat that they must send me the boxes, pay for the birds in advance and the postage to be paid by them upon receipt....to which they've agreed. Throughout Sept I got text messages regularly.....now I can't get a response. I've sent emails....no response. Contacted people who know them, to see if they can get a response for me.....nothing.

I received a call this week from another gentleman (locally) who raises LF and bantam RIRs who wants a trio.

I feel I've done everything I can do in good faith to the original "buyer", but I need to move these birds to make room for next year.

Any advise?

I feel I've exhausted all I know to do and this local guy would like to pick birds up a week from Monday

Thoughts?
