Thanks to you Yard and Riposte. Tucker doesn't have a dealer in the Augusta area, and I have not been able to check on ADM's locator. I've been supplementing Blue Seal or Kent with cat food to get the animal protein....stan

See if any Augusta dealers carry Godfrey products. Made in Madison, Ga about 1 1/2 hrs west of Augusta. I use them for all my seed needs for deer food plots....great folks

Looks like their layer crumble is animal based, contains animal fats (see label)

Stan,

If there is an FRM feed dealer in your area I think their Game Bird feeds have animal protein in them if I'm remembering correctly.

Stan if you can get the FRM feed, it is incredible!! I would have to drive about 30 miles out of the way to get it here, but everyone who uses it LOVES it

Pretty sure they began incorporating marigold extract into it as well to improve leg color on Rocks!!

Scott,

You were mentioning Marigold extract for helping with leg color and it reminded me of something I used to use when I was raising Reds years ago. It's a spice called Tumeric, you can find large containers of it at the big club stores like Sams. I just top dressed the birds feed with it and it worked like a charm.

COOL....good info. My son has a HS ballgame tomorrow right up the road from a Sams....I'll look then

THANKS

I don't "fight" leg color as i let mine birds free range on green fields as much as possible.....but would love to see one with legs that really "pop"

SIMPLE....

The "tree huggers" have made it easy for the feed mills to cut out animal proteins....thus improving the feed mills profit margins!!  Sad but true

I've read -- I'll have to find the reference -- that it has to do with regulations to keep animal products out of livestock feed in order to prevent mad cow disease.

I have bought that from Amish stores for cheap too for canning. I take it everyday in a pill. GREAT STUFF. I think it has kept my seasonal eczema at bay this year.

I might try that will the birds that should have yellow legs. I know it will stain your clothes, and floor.... I spilled some bread and butter pickle mix on the floor.... it is still there. LOL How much would you use? I would think you could mix it in the water too but it will stain the water container.
