Very happy with this first test hatch. All 3 BR eggs hatched well with no fertility or hatch ability problems. Can't wait to see what the next batch brings. :)

Congratulations Jill. So, you are on to the next generation of these birds. How exciting.

I know that's a fun camera angle, but still. That is one freak big head. I'd know that head anywhere.

Yep, these are the next gen. :thumbsup I've got another 8 hatching next weekend, and another dozen in with the dozen GS/XW line eggs you sent hatching around Easter. Late start, but we'll get there.

Just had to show a pic of one of Kathy's girls I've got...the one without as much cushion, slightly smaller tail/tent than the other but still a beautiful hen. She is 11 mo. old in this pic. Due to the camera angle it looks like her chest is a little misshapen but it's not~she had just filled up on breakfast and her crop is a little prominent in this pic...normally just as smooth as a ball. She's got that gravy boat shape I love.

Rex over Blue Plymouth Rock hens got me several non-barred birds, including a blue pullet, two black pullets and this little guy. Look at the space between his legs already. He's almost 4 weeks old. Since they are 3/4 Plymouth Rock and look like Rocks, I feel okay calling them Rocks. There's only that pesky 1/4 Delaware in there.

Cyn

He's gonna be a BIG boy! Don't forget, Dels are part Rock too, so maybe he is "more Rock" than just 3/4....is he blue or black?

Well, Cyn, you've made what a few of us have already chatted about. How to make a true Black Rock with yellow legs. That's what you've done here. Although the APA has bantam Black Rocks, the large fowl still await development and acceptance.

I understand the UK does have the Black Rock in large fowl. I'm unsure about other countries.

Congratulations on those chicks. If you put together a bird that conforms to the Standard of a Rock is a Rock. The fact that they are 3/4 is irrelevant. What is relevant is whether they meet the Plymouth Rock Standard and first, they need to breed true. I"d love some!!! Like I need another Rock in my head, eh?
