I had not heard one way or the other. However, many of us have Frank's line and do ship eggs.

... I just don't want to abandon the old accepted colors if they can be brought back. If we are going to do that, we could just all raise whites and give up on the partridge, buff , silver penciled and the other accepted colors that are out of favor right now. .....

I was actually just talking with a PR friend the other day about this. I believe (maybe I'm naive?) that each variety has they heyday, but that they'll all come back 'round in popularity eventually. Just like fashion. Meanwhile, I'll quietly work on my silver penciled variety and hope they're spiffy by the time they come back into fashion!

Wynette, I think everyone should work diligently on whichever variety they really love. If you don't love it, what's the point? I love the barreds over all others, of course.

Which is why I've stuck with the silver penciled for as long as I have. A nicely bred one, to me, is just GORGEOUS. But then, ANY well-bred fowl is a beauty to behold to me!

Yesterday I rehomed my two pair of Buff Rocks, almost a year old, to Debra57 in Arizona. She and her friend maryhysong now have the entire group of birds that cbnovick hatched out from Tom Roebuck eggs. They are nice birds, very large, and I love the buff color. However, I knew I didn't have the time and space to devote to working with this breed. I will stick with the Barred. Now, what to do with the 28 chicks I already hatched out before making the decision to part with this breed? I do believe there is a lot of fad in the keeping of chickens--people wanting the newest, latest color or breed instead of working with the established colors that need dedicated breeders, like the Buff Rocks. I have had zero interest so far in my Buff Rock chicks that I have advertised.

Wow, amazing coloring and type. I can honestly say your birds have some of the best silver penciled coloring I have ever seen. Congrats.
