my craigslist has laying hens listed every day for 7-8 dollars. I don't care, I put my high price and someone always pays it anyhow. Just try it. Say anything special about them, if they are tame, coop trained, freindly for children, wings clipped, vaccinated, have already laid an egg, show their egg. Doesn't matter if it looks like every other barred rock's egg, show it. Someone will swoop in there and buy that bird for $20. I bet you.
