just wondering how much every one who buys hay is paying for it?....i have a contract to buy 8 1100 pounds round bales for $ 40.00 each but just found out that's there 2 year old bales.....i just canceld a hay contract because the bales where way older then he said...i'm in the misted of canceling this contract too....just wondering what people are paying for there hay?

35.00 for a round bale, not sure of the weight, but ya know, one of those standard round bales. 25-30 for CRP round bales depending on the quality of the grass. (Crop Reserve Program). DH bales for the neighbor for 1/3 of his hay crop since DH went all retard on me and tore out our 20 acres of alfalfa last year...yeah cause 28 angus can feed themselves for free all winter...

Gee, we only buy it from a neighbor for the nestboxes. We pay $3 a square bale. I know it's $6 a square bale at the farmer's co-op. Sorry, I don't know what round bales are going for. I imagine it will be lower this year because they have had a good year for hay.

sparkles2307 a aflafa field is only good for 5 to 7 years, then has to be ripped out and replanted, our neighbour did that last year except this year they went with corn for a year and then will replant in in aflafa next year...my husband has be promising to plant 6 acres of pm8 grass for my horses for years!!! (if i held my breath on that promis i'd be dead by now) .

we pay $2.25 for small pure alfalfa bales here

I pay $35 for the big rounds, and $2 for small square bales. I use grass hay for the goats in small square bales, but they sell alfalfa at the same price.

Just wanted to add- I have seen old hay at auctions go for $20-30 a big bale and less than a dollar a bale for the small ones.
