Could I ask why a processor would be opening up the crop in the first place?

That's the thing, I don't think they found it in the crop, I think whatever they found was in the gizzard as they were cleaning and saving those for me.
really makes me wonder, My cross I doubt would have fit in the gizzard, this is 1.5" cross, I'm trying to figure out how it would have even swallowed that!

Perhaps they found "it" (whatever it is!) in the intestines, I know if I were processing for someone and saw some weird shape in there somewhere I would open it up and look!

I too think it would be hoot to find a cross inside of a butchered bird

I have no idea, I can only guess. I pick them up tomorrow morning.

I think if it weren't anything of value she wouldn't have "saved it for when we pick up" you know?
You'd probably toss out a nail or a penny or something, but if you found say an antique coin, someones glass eyeball, or some jewlery- you're gonna save it!

I hope it's a really valuable lost diamond that makes me filthy rich!
But I know it won't be, I'm not that lucky.
